I wrote this poem when I was praying about going to Africa.
Is this where you want me?
in this foreign land of fear?
Is this who I’m supposed to be
A hunter, Soldier, Lover?
give me the strength to lead
Is this Your plan for me?
I wonder I plea
Dear God,
Show me who I’m supposed to be
Give me the peace you know I need
This desolate land
so far from home
wherever home may be
It’s where I long to see
The trees so tall
The branches that sway
The leaves that fall
Home is where your heart is they say
where is my heart? I ask
And why so far away?
If Love is where you are
It’s where I long to stay
Beautiful in color
Dark like the midnight sky
The way you move and dance
reminds me of your scars
And the reason you cry
I hurt for you I hope you know
At night as I lay face toward the stars
They remind me of just how far
We are from home
And how I’ll never be alone
We fear the day the end will come
The suns lost light
The moon dark no longer ignites the night
The stars will fall like drops of rain
leaving the sky black and plain
But then He’ll come
to save the day
He’ll come as a ransom
To free all slaves
Erasing the scars
Through the price He payed

I love this poem. I have written one somewhat similar. Life is precious.
