I’m sure most everyone has seen all the news about Susan G. Komen breast cancer research society choosing to no longer support Planned Parenthood, and then changing back to saying they will continue to support Planned Parenthood. My question in all of this is, where are the pro-life people.
The reason Susan G. Komen decided originally to withhold funding from Planned Parenthood is because Susan G. Komen does not fund groups under criminal investigation and they do not support groups that do not actually help women in need of breast health care. Planned Parenthood is under legislative and criminal investigations all over this country. What’s more, Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms even though they claim they do. Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood, claims that they do mammograms for women, but the truth is they DO NOT do mammograms, the only thing they do is manual breast health checks (please watch this excellent video about this at www.youtube.com/watch?v=umI-gLEC6C8). Not only that, but abortion and birth control pills have been shown to increase the risk of breast cancer (Click here to see the studies that prove the link).
There is documentation that Planned Parenthood covers up statutory rape, even though by law they are supposed to report it, and they have been covering up sex trafficking (www.liveaction.org/media/download-live-action-videos).
Planned Parenthood is also under investigation for misuse of their funds. Republican Representative Cliff Stearns recently launched an investigation accusing Planned Parenthood of misusing public funds on abortions. Planned Parenthood is a multimillion dollar industry (the CEO of Planned Parenthood earns approximately $158,000 annually). On top of all this Planned Parenthood receives over $350 million of our hard earned tax dollars every single year, plus the grants they receive from other organizations (like Susan G. Komen). Planned Parenthood is not an organization that cares about women. I am all for finding a cure for breast cancer, my Grandma has breast cancer that has now spread to her spine, but I think Susan G. Komen’s money would be better used elsewhere.

Komen seems to have changed their mind on this issue is because of pressure from Planned Parenthood and other abortion supporters. “What we know has happened this week was nothing short of a Mafia shakedown by Planned Parenthood against the Susan G. Komen Foundation. It was little more than a hostage-taking by an abortion bully. Planned Parenthood told the Komen Foundation, “Either give us money or we will destroy you.” They were aided and abetted in this hostage-taking by the mainstream media. What Planned Parenthood did this week was unleash their multi-million dollar fury and political might against a group wholly unprepared for such a political attack. The Susan G. Komen Foundation is a non-profit charity dedicated to curing breast cancer. Planned Parenthood is a political machine dedicated to attacking anyone and anything that stands in its way. Planned Parenthood tried this week to utterly destroy the Susan G. Komen Foundation and they were well on their way to doing just that. They made it abundantly clear they care more about abortion and about protecting their funding streams than any other thing, including women’s lives” (http://wp.me/pKipa-161).
Again, my question is, where are the pro-life people? When Susan G. Komen first said they would no longer support Planned Parenthood, they should have been flooded with support from people who stand for life encouraging them and supporting them in their decision. Our voice should have been louder than the voices of those who opposed Susan G. Komen’s decision.
Now we need to be praying, because Ephesians 6:12 says that “Our wrestle is not against flesh and blood… but against the spiritual forces of wickedness.” And Ephesians 6:18 says to “pray at all times in the Spirit.” We should be praying for Susan Brinker and her colleagues at the Susan G. Komen Foundation, that they have the strength to stop funding Planned Parenthood. We should be praying for the defunding of Planned Parenthood. We should be praying that God would open people’s eyes to the truth about the evils of Planned Parenthood.
But we also need to put action behind our prayers, because James 2:17 says that “faith without works is dead.” So what can you do? There is a great organization called “The White Rose Project” that has a lot of things you can do to expose Planned Parenthood for who they really are, and to notify your Senators and tell them you want Planned Parenthood to be defunded. We also need you to immediately contact Susan G. Komen (news@komen.org) and tell them not to cave and give into Planned Parenthood‘s bullying. Tell Komen that their organization should not be aligned with an organization like Planned Parenthood, which is the largest abortion provider in the country, because it is a proven fact that abortion causes breast cancer.
Please pray for an end to abortion.
