In 2006, we made our first trip West, and spoke at two churches in Texas. One of those churches was Westview Baptist in Slaton, pastored by Kirk Kitchens. Pastor Kirk shared his testimony with us of how God called him to pastor at Westview and to take a stand for life. He spent a total of 24 years serving our country in the US Army.  His last 16 years were spent serving in the special forces. In 2004, he began to fervently seek God’s will for his life and God led him to Rom.10:14-15, “And how shall they hear without a preacher and how shall they preach unless they are sent.

He surrendered to that call, and in November 2005, God called him to pastor West view Baptist Church in Slaton, TX. He has a burden for Slaton/ Lubbock , and desires to answer God’s call on his life by preaching the Word of God and showing a Christ-like character to all people.  Upon learning recently that according to the Texas Department of Health, 7 of the 10 counties with the highest teen-age pregnancy and STD rates per capita are in West Texas, Pastor Kirk believes God has placed an additional area of ministry for him to inform the youth of what God says about choosing life. Pastor Kirk has spent most of his life serving; first in protecting our nation and now fighting to see souls won and lives changed!
