HEALING FROM ABORTION
“Our Kinsman Redeemer – Jesus Christ – is capable of recovering all that has been lost, because He took care of our sin [when He died on the cross in our place].” ~Kay Arthur
If you have been hurt by abortion, first of all, know that God loves you. John 3:16 says that God loved the world, and that includes you, so much that He sent His son to die for you, so you could have everlasting life.
Secondly, know that you are valuable, not because of anything you have or have not done, not because of how you look, or because of any talents you may have, but simply because you are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).
Finally, know that there is healing and forgiveness at the foot of the cross. 1 John 1:9 says if we confess our sins, then God will forgive our sins. No matter the sin, no matter what you have done, God can and will forgive you if you will simply confess and repent. There is no sin to great that God cannot forgive, including abortion. And if you have confessed your sin, then know that God has forgiven you and He wants you to forgive yourself. Anytime that sin is brought back to your mind, after you have confessed and repented, and you begin to feel guilt and condemnation again, remember that God has forgiven you and there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ (Romans 8:1). The very moment you confessed and repented of that sin, God cast it has far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12), and He buried it in a sea of forgetfulness, He does not remember it, and He wants you to find freedom from it too. Micah 7:19 says that God casts all our sins into the depths of the sea. Isaiah 38:17 says that God has cast all our sins behind His back. And Isaiah 43:25 says that God blots out our sins and does not remember them.
Study the life of David in the Bible sometime. David was the greatest King of Israel, but he committed adultery, and murder (to cover up the affair). Later, when confronted with what he had done, and when he realized that he had sinned, David prayed a prayer of repentance in Psalm 51, and God heard that prayer and forgave him. Then later in Acts 13:22, it says that David was a man after God’s own heart. God still used David and called him a man after His heart, even though he had committed adultery and murder, because David repented, and God forgave and buried his sin in a sea of forgetfulness. (However, even though God forgave David, he did still have to face the consequences of his sin. Even though God forgives us when we sin, we do still have to pay consequences for our sins.) You can read this story of David for yourself in 2 Samuel chapters 11 and 12.
