I arrived safely in South Asia and the first week that I was here I attended orientation with eight other college students. We learned about the culture and the work we would be doing. After the week was over, we split up into our teams of two and traveled to our differentcities. The day after my teammate and I arrived in our city, I was able to meet the Deaf students who I would be working with. There are fifty-five students at the school, and forty four of them live there. Getting to meet them was a lot of fun! They were very friendly, and eager to introduce themselves. and to get to know me. The next day I was able to observe at the Deaf school while the students took their exams. andthe Deaf teacher taught me some ofthe native sign language that they use here. I am now working five to six days a week with the students and spending the rest of my time enjoying opportunities to meet new friends. My roommate and I have also become friends with some students from Europe who are doing internships at the hospital here. (Caitlyn is pictured above with a little beggar girl).
Please pray for a sister we met here. Her family does not believe and she has been having some struggles with them, especially her dad.
Please pray for my teammate Bethany and I as we get settled in here and begin working at the schools, and that we would have boldness.
Please pray for a lady here whom we have become friends with. We have had some opportunities to share with her, but she has not made a decision yet.
Please pray for the Deaf school where I will be working. They are renting a building right now and have been havingsome trouble with their landlord. and the facilities are small for the number of students they have now.
Please especially pray for the studentsI will be teaching, most of whom come from Hindu backgrounds.
